Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who was Rajasthan Royals’ leading run-scorer in IPL 2026, recently became the youngest player to represent India in international cricket at 15 years and 99 days.

The hard-hitting southpaw was selected in the playing XI for the second game of the ongoing five-match T20I series against England.

Sooryavanshi, who made 14 runs off 10 balls on his debut, struck two towering sixes on his debut, including one against his Royals teammate Jofra Archer.

The 15-year-old earned his maiden India T20I call-up for the two-match series against Ireland but had to wait for his debut after missing out on the playing XI in both games.

After sitting out the opening T20I against England, he was handed India’s T20I cap No. 122 by vice-captain Tilak Varma before making his long-awaited international debut at Old Trafford, Manchester.

The teenager was fasttracked into the Indian T20I setup after finishing as the leading run-scorer in IPL 2026 with 776 runs in 16 innings at a stunning strike rate of 237.30 to become the youngest to claim the Orange Cap and MVP awards in league history.

His remarkable season also saw him become the fastest batter to reach 1000 IPL runs in terms of balls faced, needing only 440 deliveries.

He also smashed a record 72 sixes during the campaign and became the first player to score 500 powerplay runs in a single IPL season.

Before joining the Indian senior squad, Sooryavanshi represented India A at the tri-series in Sri Lanka, where he smashed the fastest List A fifty, reaching there in 11 balls en route to a 29-ball 94 in the final against Sri Lanka A.
