For Abdul Wahid, cricket has always been more than a sport, it’s a continuous rhythm that connects his past and present. Growing up, he spent every spare moment playing cricket in his home and on the streets. As a professional season ball cricketer, he is driven by a love for the game that continues to shape his journey today.
When Abdul joined the NEOM x Rajasthan Royals Community Cricket Tournament, it brought both his worlds together. He found a refreshing outlet in a tape ball tournament that was organised to include so many players, many of whom are his friends and colleagues, across NEOM. It’s this unique blend of professionalism and pure joy that, in Abdul’s eyes, makes the NEOM x Rajasthan Royals programme truly special.
Encouraged by his company, Lumi Rental, he formed a team that would go on to win the 2024 edition. “It was a fantastic experience for all of us. Receiving the Man of the Match award in the final from Kumar Sangakkara and Rahul Dravid made it unforgettable. That day will always stay with me.”
Beyond competition, cricket has allowed him to stay active, unwind, and build lasting friendships. “We came to Saudi Arabia for work, but weekends on the field help us recharge. It’s also a great way to meet people and feel part of a wider community.”
Looking ahead, Abdul believes the program will have lasting impacts. “I’m confident it will inspire future heroes.”
“Cricket keeps me balanced - it reminds me where I started, and how far passion can take you.”
