#PinkPromise: 6th April - RR vs RCB
A special match dedicated to the women of Rajasthan

The IPL 2024 match featured Sanju Samson and Co. wearing special jerseys, dedicated to the women supported by the Royal Rajasthan Foundation.

India and the world have witnessed remarkable progress in addressing gender disparities, enhancing literacy rates among women, and increasing their participation in governance and the workforce. However, despite these advancements, women still encounter formidable barriers like limited access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, hindering their holistic participation in society. This impediment not only affects women but also stifles progress of the society as a whole.

Globally, female labour force participation stands at just over 50%, compared to over 80% for men, with India's female participation notably low at 28%, as of 2022. The participation of women in the labour force further drops as data suggests that a significant portion of women in Rajasthan are engaged in unpaid household work or informal sector employment, with limited access to formal employment opportunities.

In Rajasthan's Sambhar region, where women endure arduous journeys for potable water and lack access to electricity, the Royal Rajasthan Foundation (RRF) steps in. RRF believes that women are innately empowered and have an inherent capacity to lead and catalyse change, particularly in economically marginalised areas.

Through initiatives like Project Khushaali, RRF enables empowered women by providing access to water, clean energy, skill development, and mental health interventions. By reducing barriers and nurturing aspirations, RRF aims to create a multiplier effect of empowerment, transforming not just individual lives but entire communities. With over 15 million women reached since 2019, RRF exemplifies the transformative power of women-oriented social development programs, paving the way for inclusive and sustainable progress.

WHAT IS #PINKPROMISE?

On April 6 in the Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru IPL 2024 match in Jaipur, the Royals wore a special all-pink matchday kits as part of their #PinkPromise, through which the team amplified their support to the empowered women from rural Rajasthan, who are driving significant societal transformation.

To ensure continuity of its impactful on-ground initiatives, the Royals will donate ₹100 for women-led rural transformation in Rajasthan on every RR vs RCB ticket purchased for this match. Apart from that, all proceeds from the sale of each all-pink Royals' jersey will go to its social equity arm - the Royal Rajasthan Foundation. In addition, for every 6 hit in the match by both teams, Rajasthan Royals and the Royal Rajasthan Foundation committed to light up 6 homes in the Sambhar region with solar power. A total of 13 sixes were hit in the match across both innings, meaning it contributed to 78 homes in Sambhar to be solar powered by the women engineers of the Foundation.
