Yuzvendra Chahal completed 50 wickets for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League in their match against Delhi Capitals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday.

Chahal picked up 2/19 off three overs and reached the milestone in Rajasthan Royals’ 12-run win against the Capitals in IPL 2024. He removed the Capitals’ skipper Rishabh Pant and Abhishek Porel in consecutive overs to turn the match in favour of the Royals.

Chahal is the fourth bowler to achieve the 50-wicket feat for the Royals after Shane Warne, Shane Watson and Siddharth Trivedi. He took just 33 matches to get to his fifty wickets, which includes one five-wicket haul and four four-wicket hauls.

Chahal was signed by Rajasthan Royals before IPL 2022 for INR 6.50 crores from Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In two full seasons with the Royals, he has consistently clocked 20-plus dismissals in both years.

The 33-year-old Chahal was the Purple Cap winner for leading wicket-taker in IPL 2022 with 27 scalps and was instrumental in guiding the Royals to their first final since 2008. In IPL 2023, he picked 21 victims from 14 matches.

Chahal has picked 51 wickets for the Royals from 33 matches at an average of 19.66 and an economy rate of 7.90. The leg spinner also has an impressive strike rate of 14.92 with best bowling figures of 5/40 coming in the Royals’ seven-run win against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022.

Chahal is also the highest wicket-taker in the history of the IPL with 190 dismissals from 147 matches since making his IPL debut in 2013.
