Dhruv Jurel, who represents Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, came into the crease in the second over of the chase after opener Abhishek Goswami was dismissed.
He went on to put on a 132-run stand for the second wicket along with Aryan Juyal, who perished in the 22nd over.
At the other end, Dhruv Jurel - who was already into a brisk more than a run-a-ball fifty - continued to assert his dominance, dictating terms against Bengal’s bowling attack.
The 24-year-old Jurel then went on to bring up his second century in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy season before eventually being dismissed in the 35th over with Uttar Pradesh within touching distance of victory.
Earlier in the VHT 2025-26 season, Jurel had scored his maiden List A century with an unbeaten 160 off 101 balls for Uttar Pradesh against Baroda.
Jurel, in fact, has been in stunning form in this season’s Vijay Hazare Trophy and is Uttar Pradesh’s top-scorer in the tournament with 558 runs in seven matches at an average of over 90. He has scored two hundreds as well as four half-centuries across seven innings in VHT 2025-26.
Jurel’s fine form with the bat has helped Uttar Pradesh top the Elite Group B points table, having amassed 28 points with wins in all seven of their matches so far.
