In the SRH vs RR head-to-head, the two teams have played each other 19 times in the IPL with the Royals winning on nine occasions while the Sunrisers have been victorious 10 times.

In the playoffs, Rajasthan Royals have met SRH once in the IPL 2013 Eliminator match with the Royals winning by four wickets.

In the latest encounter between the two sides in IPL 2024 earlier this month, the Sunrisers beat the Royals by one run in a thrilling match at Hyderabad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals players

The Royals had an excellent outing with the ball against RCB in the Eliminator. Trent Boult up front, Ravichandran Ashwin in the middle and Avesh Khan in the death overs played their role to perfection to stifle RCB.

Boult had 13 dot balls in his three overs in the powerplay and gave away just one boundary in his entire spell to register figures of 1/16. The left-arm pacer has picked up nine wickets in the powerplay of IPL 2024 and will be crucial in Qualifier 2.

Ashwin with his experience, controlled the middle overs of a do-or-die match and picked up two crucial wickets. Ashwin, who had only one wicket from the first seven matches in IPL 2024, is getting back in form at the right time as he has picked up eight wickets in his last six matches at an impressive economy of 7.7.

Ashwin’s record against left-handed batters in the IPL has been impressive with 65 dismissals against them, the most by any bowler in the tournament. He also has 37 wickets against openers, which is the joint-most for any spinner in the IPL. This makes him a dangerous proposition against the left-handed openers of SRH.

Ashwin would also relish the opportunity of bowling in the playoffs at his home ground in Chennai, as he has the most wickets, 21 scalps, for any active player in the playoffs stage.

Avesh Khan was the Royals’ highest wicket-taker in the match against RCB pocketing three big hitters. But what was more impressive was his comeback after getting hammered in the first two overs.

Avesh’s last two overs were crucial as they allowed breathing space for the Royals during the run chase. Also, the pacer has a good record against SRH’s opener Abhishek Sharma dismissing him twice in their last three meetings, including in the last match at Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Chahal has the most wickets against the Sunrisers in the current Royals squad with 28 wickets from 20 matches averaging 21.14 with an effective economy rate of 7.67. Ashwin recently completed 50 wickets in IPL at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai in the Royals’ group game against Chennai Super Kings.

On the batting front, the Caribbean pair of Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell powered the Royals to a thrilling win in the Eliminator. Both of them together aggregated 42 runs with the bat at an astonishing strike rate of 191 hitting two sixes and five fours.

Hetmyer and Powell have impressed with their big-hitting ability during the death overs, striking at 192 and 198, respectively.

Skipper Samson has an excellent record against SRH scoring 791 runs from 22 matches at an average of 46.52 and a strike rate of 137.56. He is also the Royals’ top-scorer in this fixture with a hundred and four fifties.
