Kwena Maphaka, Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Nandre Burger, all of whom represent Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, have been named in the South Africa cricket squad for the upcoming Zimbabwe T20I Tri-Series 2025.
The tri-nation series, which includes Zimbabwe and New Zealand, is scheduled to be played in Harare from July 14 to 26. The RR trio is part of a 14-player squad for the tournament.
Both Kwena Maphaka and Lhuan-dre Pretorius are also part of South Africa’s cricket team for the 2025 Test series against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, which will precede the tri-nation series.
Maphaka made his T20I debut against the West Indies in August last year and became the youngest player to ever play an international game for South Africa at the age of 18 years and 137 days.
Since then, Maphaka has represented the Proteas in all formats of cricket, including a total of five T20Is. He has three wickets to his name.
The talented pacer, who is now 19, played two matches for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025. Against the Punjab Kings, he dismissed Mitchell Owen for a duck to give the Rajasthan Royals an early breakthrough.

Another exciting 19-year-old prodigy, batter Lhuan-dre Pretorius, earned his maiden T20I call-up for South Africa. He has been a revelation in first-class cricket, scoring three centuries and one fifty in just seven matches, averaging over 60.
Pretorius was named as a replacement for injured Nitish Rana in the Rajasthan Royals squad in IPL 2025. He was South Africa’s top run-scorer at the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2024 and recently lit up South Africa’s domestic T20 league with his heavy hitting.
Pacer Nandre Burger, meanwhile, is making a return to international cricket after recovering from a lower back injury which kept him out of the South Africa setup for almost a year.
Burger, who has represented the Proteas in all three formats, has played two T20Is. He was drafted in as a late replacement for the injured Sandeep Sharma in the RR squad during IPL 2025.
As per the format of the tournament, each team will play each other twice before the final on July 26. The Proteas will face Zimbabwe on July 14 and 20, while their matches against New Zealand will take place on July 16 and 22.
The squad will assemble in Pretoria on July 9 for a two-day preparatory camp before departing for Harare on July 11.
