The Royal Rajasthan Foundation (RRF), the social equity arm of Rajasthan Royals, has completed the training of four solar engineers & solar electrification of 260 homes as part of its flagship initiative, Pink Promise - a campaign that harnesses the power of cricket to drive women-led transformation in rural Rajasthan and beyond.

With the continued generous support of Principal Sponsor Luminous Power Technologies and on-ground implementation partner Bindi International, the project will bring clean, reliable energy to 200 homes in the Sambhar block of Jaipur district in Rajasthan and an additional 60 homes in Assam, marking a significant step toward equitable energy access for underserved communities.

The initiative is a key part of RRF’s broader commitment to using the platform of sport to promote equity, dignity, and opportunity for empowered women. Since its inception in 2019, RRF have positively impacted the lives of over 15.2 million women driven by the belief: “Aurat Hai Toh Bharat Hai — With Her, We Rise.”

The Pink Promise initiative was launched on April 6, 2024, during a landmark IPL fixture where Rajasthan Royals hosted the first-ever Pink Promise match. For the first time in the franchise’s history, the Royals took the field in all-pink kits, each carrying the name of a women beneficiaries of the foundation — turning a cricket match into a powerful platform for visibility, tribute, and action.

In a symbolic yet tangible commitment, the team pledged to electrify six homes for every six hit during the match — a promise that was doubled with the support of Luminous Power Technologies through solar electrification of 260 homes that previously lived without access to reliable electricity and training four solar engineers with help of Bindi International.

Speaking about the initiative, Jake Lush McCrum, CEO, Rajasthan Royals, said, “Pink Promise represents our commitment to driving meaningful, long-term change through the platform of cricket. When we enable empowered women and communities with access to sustainable solutions like solar energy, we ignite transformation that lasts for generations. We’re proud to walk this journey with partners like Luminous and most importantly, alongside the inspiring women beneficiaries who are truly at the heart of this movement.”

Speaking about the initiative, Preeti Bajaj, MD & CEO, Luminous Power Technologies, said, “The Pink Promise stands as a powerful testament to our core values. It's more than just a collaboration; it’s a commitment to empowering women and building a sustainable future. Through this initiative, we're not only bringing clean solar energy to homes, but we're also empowering women with the skills and knowledge to lead the charge. Every 'six' hit on the field translates into tangible change, lighting up a home and inspiring a brighter tomorrow.

Our partnership with the Rajasthan Royals has elevated this mission, amplifying its reach and resonating with a wider audience. When sport meets purpose, the ripple effect extends far beyond the pitch. Over the past two years, this collaboration has sparked meaningful connections, fostered inclusion, and accelerated the adoption of clean energy in everyday life across India.”

Opining on the same, Harsh Tiwari, Director, Bindi International said, ‘This partnership with Royal Rajasthan Foundation and Luminous brought clean energy to 260 homes and 120 public spaces, while training 4 women as solar engineers. When women lead energy access at the grassroots, the impact is sustainable, dignified, and lasting. We believe that today’s India is in a stronger position to shift toward rural empowerment. We envision a future where solar energy transforms rural India - electrifying communities, generating jobs, and empowering women to lead the clean energy revolution. At Bindi, we are creating a model that can be scaled with the government. Having partners who are committed to augment this further, only strengthen this resolve.'

The training of solar engineers and the electrification of homes were implemented in collaboration with Bindi International, marking a meaningful milestone for both the Foundation and the communities it serves. To date, the initiative has positively impacted over 1,500 lives and has trained four local women as solar engineers. These women are not only leading installation efforts but are also playing a crucial role in on-ground implementation, system maintenance, and repairs, ensuring long-term sustainability of the intervention.

The initiative has drawn national recognition: it was highlighted by Amitabh Bachchan on Kaun Banega Crorepati and saw Thavri Devi, our trained solar engineer and toss representative at the match, receive an award from the President of India — a proud moment for the entire team involved in this initiative.

Building on this momentum, the second edition of Pink Promise in 2025 has further expanded the initiative’s ambition — with a renewed commitment to solar-electrify 520 additional homes with Luminous’ support. In a transformative move toward women-led sustainability, the Foundation has also pledged to train 10 rural women as solar engineers, empowering them not just as recipients, but as agents of longterm change in their communities.
