Ravi Bishnoi is set to don the India jersey once again after being named in the 15-member squad for the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, beginning on January 21 in Nagpur.
The 25-year-old leg-spinner last represented India in international cricket during a five-match T20I series against England in February 2025, where he claimed five wickets from as many matches at an economy rate of 7.76 and an average of 26.40.
Overall, Bishnoi has featured in 42 T20Is for India, picking up wickets at an impressive average of 19.37 while maintaining an economy of 7.35. He is also a former world No. 1 bowler in the ICC men’s T20I rankings.
Bishnoi, who the Rajasthan Royals acquired at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, comes into the India squad as a replacement for Washington Sundar, who has been ruled out of the series after being diagnosed with a side strain.

Bishnoi’s recall follows solid performances in Indian domestic cricket.
Representing Gujarat, Bishnoi finished as the team’s second-highest wicket-taker in the Vijay Hazare Trophy with 12 scalps from seven matches after adding nine wickets from as many games in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
In the IPL, Bishnoi has played 77 matches across six seasons, accounting for 72 wickets at an average of 30.96 and an economy rate of 8.22.
The five-match home series against New Zealand will be India’s final assignment before the T20 World Cup 2026 begins next month.
