Rajasthan Royals finished third in the Indian Premier League 2024 points table after their final group game against Kolkata Knight Riders was abandoned due to rain on Sunday.

The IPL 2024 match at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium at Guwahati had to be called off without a ball being bowled, with both teams getting a point each. With that, the Royals moved to 17 points from 14 games, to finish in third place in the standings.

The Royals won eight matches in the group stage with a net run rate of +0.273. Sunrisers Hyderabad also ended with 17 points, after their win earlier in the evening against Punjab Kings, but SRH took the second spot with a better net run rate of +0.414.

Had the Royals won the match against KKR, they would have finished second in the IPL 2024 points table.

Rajasthan Royals will now face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2024 Eliminator match in the IPL 2024 playoffs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

Kolkata Knight Riders remained at the top of the table after finishing with 20 points from 14 matches and will meet SRH in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday, after a day’s break, at the same venue.

The Royals, if they win on Wednesday, will meet the loser of Qualifier 1 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday. The winners of Qualifier 1 will directly proceed to the finals, which will be played in Chennai next Sunday, and await the winner of Qualifier 2.
