PRESS RELEASE

National, 28 March 2024: Royals Sports Group-owned franchise Rajasthan Royals today announced the signing of South African all-rounder Keshav Maharaj as a replacement player for Prasidh Krishna, who had to withdraw from the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to injury.

The 34-year-old Maharaj will be taking part in his first-ever IPL season as he joins the Royals for the current season. Hailing from Durban in South Africa, the left-arm spinner first broke onto the international circuit in 2016 when he represented his nation in a Test series against Australia. Since then, the all-rounder has appeared in 50 Tests, 44 ODIs and 27 T20Is for the Proteas, picking up 225 international wickets and scoring more than 1400 runs across the three formats.

Welcoming the South African all-rounder to the franchise, Royals’ Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara said, “Keshav (Maharaj) is a great addition to our squad with his quality and understanding of the game. He is hugely experienced and an outstanding individual off the field as well. His addition will further improve the depth and quality of our squad, and we look forward to having him contribute with his performances.”

Maharaj has joined the Royals in Jaipur this evening and will be eligible for selection for the team's next match.

Rajasthan Royals welcomes him to the Royals Family for IPL 2024.
