Jofra Archer recorded his first Test fifer in over six years as the English pacer scalped 5/53 against Australia in the first innings of the third match of the Ashes 2025 series in Adelaide.
Archer dismissed Jake Weatherald, Marnus Labuschagne and Cameron Green on the opening day of the Test match on Wednesday before wrapping up the Australian innings by dismissing half-centurion Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon on the second day.
He bowled a total of 20.2 overs in the innings, with an economy of 2.60.
This was Archer’s fourth five-wicket haul in his career and the third against Australia in the Ashes.

His maiden five-wicket haul in international red ball cricket - a 6/45, which is still his best bowling figures in a Test innings to date - also came against the Australians in Leeds in the 2019 Ashes series. It was only Archer’s second Test match of his career.
Archer also registered a 6/62 in the final Test of the 2019 Ashes series at the Oval, while his other five-wicket haul was a 5/102 against South Africa at the Centurion later that year.
The English quick played six more Test matches between 2020 and 2021 before recurring injuries sidelined him from the format for four long years.
Archer made his long-awaited Test comeback earlier this year against India at home and the match at Adelaide is his fifth match since his return.
Earlier this year, he also reached the 50 Test wickets milestone and now he has 59 wickets in the format from 18 matches played.
Interestingly, 30 of these have come in his seven Ashes Tests against the Aussies.
Besides his exploits with the ball in the Adelaide Test, Archer also contributed with the bat as he remained not out on 30 at the end of Day 2, putting together a decisive and unbeaten 45-run stand with captain Ben Stokes.
Responding to Australia’s first innings total of 371, England are at 213/8 at stumps. Archer’s knock came at a time of dire need.
Archer was the joint-highest wicket-taker for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025 with 11 scalps and is in the squad for the 2026 season as well.
