Dhruv Jurel has been appointed vice-captain of the India A cricket team for their two multi-day matches against Australia A in Lucknow, starting September 16.
Shreyas Iyer will captain a 15-member squad against India A, with KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj set to join only for the second game as two replacements. The matches will begin on September 16 and September 23, respectively.
The 24-year-old Dhruv Jurel, who plays for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, was named the captain of Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy last month but did not feature in their first match after being diagnosed with dengue.

Jurel was part of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test series, where his gritty 34 in the final Test at The Oval helped India level the series 2-2 against England.
His tidy wicketkeeping, standing in for the injured Rishabh Pant, also drew praise from former India and Rajasthan Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane, with sharp catches at Lord’s and Manchester before being named in the playing XI at The Oval.
In first-class cricket, Jurel has scored 1515 runs in 25 matches at an average of 47.34.
Jurel has also been consistent for India A in the past, scoring 94 and 53 not out in the first unofficial Test against England Lions ahead of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test series.
He also scored another half-century in the second unofficial Test against the England Lions.
The 24-year-old was the third highest scorer for the Royals in IPL 2025, scoring 333 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 156.33.
The multi-day matches will be followed by three one-day games in Kanpur, scheduled for September 30, and October 3 and 5.
