Emanjot Singh Chahal struck a fluent century lower down the order to help Punjab post a massive first-innings total against Andhra in their Ranji Trophy 2026-27 Elite Group B match in New Chandigarh on Tuesday.
Coming in at No. 8, Emanjot, part of the Rajasthan Royals setup in the IPL, scored 122 off 150 balls, smashing seven fours and nine sixes as Punjab declared on 592/9.
Punjab had recovered from 71/5 through centuries from Salil Arora and Sanvir Singh before Emanjot walked in following Arora's dismissal for 144.
The 22-year-old Emanjot made a watchful start to his innings and was on 14 off 42 balls before shifting gears considerably.
With Sanvir well set at the other end, Emanjot helped Punjab build further on their recovery as the pair added 154 runs for the seventh wicket.
Sanvir was eventually dismissed for 205 off 375 balls with Punjab on 497/7, but Emanjot continued to attack the Andhra bowling.
Emanjot continued to find the boundary after reaching three figures before his innings ended at 122 when he was caught by Ricky Bhui off Saurabh Kumar.
Punjab were 586/9 at the time and added six more runs before declaring on 592/9 after 156 overs.
Emanjot's knock followed his maiden first-class century earlier in the ongoing Ranji Trophy campaign, when he scored an unbeaten 114 against Assam at the same venue.
Before that breakthrough hundred, his previous best in first-class cricket was 83 against Karnataka in Mohali in January earlier this year.
With Tuesday's 122, Emanjot has now scored 371 runs in seven first-class matches at an average of 46.37.
The all-rounder was drafted into the Rajasthan Royals squad as an injury replacement during the IPL 2026 season. He is yet to make his IPL debut.
