Sanju Samson was named the T20I Batter of the Year at the CEAT Cricket Awards 2025 in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The CEAT Awards are annual honours presented by tyre manufacturers to recognise outstanding performances in international and domestic cricket.

The awards celebrate top players across categories such as batters, bowlers, all-rounder and emerging cricketer of the year, along with special lifetime achievement honours.

Sanju Samson, who captains Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, was adjudged the best batter in the T20Is after a sensational 2024 that saw him finish with 436 runs at an average of 43.60 and a strike rate of 180.16.

Samson also struck one fifty and three hundreds in T20Is last year against Bangladesh and South Africa. His top score of 111 came against Bangladesh last October.

The right-handed batter has scored 183 in T20Is this year and played his part in helping India win the Asia Cup 2025 title.

Samson scored 132 runs in seven matches at an average of 33.00 and a strike rate of 124.53 in the Asia Cup. His top score of 56 came against Oman in the group stage, for which he was named the Player of the Match.

He was also involved in a crucial 57-run partnership with Tilak Varma in the Asia Cup final and also bagged the BCCI’s Impact Player of the Match award for his brilliant cameo against Sri Lanka in India’s thrilling Super Over win.

Samson, who made 285 runs in nine matches at an average of 35.63 and a strike rate of 140.39 for Rajasthan in IPL 2025, was also recently named in India’s 16-member T20I squad for their series against Australia, starting on October 29.
