The inaugural champions took to numerous social media platforms to celebrate their comeback, and kicked off festivities with the launch of their Twitter trending campaign, aptly titled “The Royals Have Returned”.

The campaign – which garnered a host of positive responses from fans, publications and other franchises alike – ingeniously involved a series of celebratory posts directed at other franchises in their native languages. The team tweeted Chennai Super Kings – another returning team – and expressed their excitement for future matches in the upcoming tournament, to which CSK responded in Rajasthan’s native language, echoing similar sentiments.

The Royals’ return trended on Twitter, thanks to the thousands of fans and supporters who flooded the official Rajasthan Royals twitter page to show their support and welcome back their beloved franchise.
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad responded to RR’s message with a heart-warming display of camaraderie. This is the first time the world of Indian sport has witnessed a campaign that united fans and teams alike in a spirited display of true sportsmanship.
The Royals have been at the forefront of innovation in the IPL since they first lifted the inaugural trophy in 2008, and the unique nature of this campaign should come as no surprise to anyone that has been following them over the past decade.

The return of the Royals was also well received on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, both of which saw thousands of fans tagging their friends and loved ones in RR posts and videos. Such was the buzz generated by this innovative digital campaign, it got picked up by leading national media publishers such as Times of India, Business Standard, Mid-Day, CricTracker, Cricket Next and Goan Times, as well as regional publications such as ABP, First Post Hindi and Khas Khabar.
