Overview

  • Leadership and Performance is an online programme that provides a unique perspective on leadership, designed to help executives adapt to the challenges faced by organisations in this fast-paced digital era. The programme takes you on a journey of learning to lead yourself – and then translates that knowledge into leading others and leading change. As an emerging leader, you will establish a link between leadership and business performance, and discover more about yourself and how your behaviour affects others.

Leading Self

  • In this first week, the intention is to provide you with some key ideas about leadership as a practice and what it takes to be an effective high-performing leader within your current business context. We turn the lens inward and focuse on the notion of Leading Self and frame it as a building block for Leading Others and Leading Change. We start by considering what we mean by the notion of Leading Self – who is managing who?

    While the idea of self-awareness has been considered essential for effective leadership for many years, it is not always clear how we can become more self-aware. This week we focus on a simple approach to develop more acute awareness of what is going on inside yourself in order to allow you the possibility of calibrating your response to others more effectively. This is the building block of what is often called emotional intelligence.

Leading Others

Week 2 builds on the concept of leading self to explore how to lead others effectively. Our theme of Leading Others focuses strongly on the way you show up in the workplace and the impact you have on others and how you deal with the impact they have on you. In particular, we will look at how to create a culture where managers and team members can engage effectively with each other as well as arm you with tools to handle difficult conversations, especially around giving effective feedback.

  • Gain insights into how exceptional managers engage their team members effectively, raising their motivation and the quality of work
  • To understand and raise your awareness of how your behavior is perceived by others which in turn affects their behavior towards you
  • To be able to identify the link between effective feedback and the culture you create around you
  • To practice some of the techniques of giving and receiving feedback effectively

Leading Change

  • The final week highlights two important aspects around leadership, especially in today’s complex, digital world. This week we reflect on how to tackle adaptive challenges, as they are more complex than technical challenges being rooted in understanding of people and situations.

To understand the reactions of the rational brain and the emotional brain when confronted with change

Final Assignment & Peer Review

  • These two weeks are for you to synthesize your learning from the past few weeks into a compelling final submission. It will also offer an opportunity for you to give feedback to, and receive feedback from your peers for the Final ALP Assignment. No new course content will be released in these weeks.

Certification

Students who successfully complete the 'Tier 1' course will be awarded Certificate (Concepts). Those who successfully complete the 'Tier 2' and 'Tier 3' courses will be awarded an additional Certificate (Action). INSEAD will award Distinction Certificate to select students upto Top 10% of the cohort. All certificates will be co-branded by INSEAD and Rajasthan Royals.

How much time will I need to dedicate every week to this course?

The programme should take approximately 4-6 hours per week.

‘Tier 1’ will take 3 - 4 hours per week while 'Tier 2' and 'Tier 3' tier will take 5 - 6 hours per week

How long will I take to complete the entire course?

The programme, starting on 28th February,2022 has 3 weeks of content. Each week’s content will be released on a Friday and participants will have two weeks to go through that content. At the end, there will be 2 weeks to complete the final assignment. When a week is open, participants can log in anytime and review the content at their own pace and convenience.

What is Action Learning Project (ALP)?

The ALPs are the main attraction of this course. It’s only available to people who enrol in Tier 2 and Tier 3. It will be focused on building your Leadership Action Plan and will give you the opportunity to practise applying your learning to your own leadership role. This project will take you on a step-by-step journey to develop a leadership practice that you can hone while managing yourself and your team.

You will get 1-on-1 guidance from INSEAD coaches who will help you build out the Leadership Action Plan. You will be able to connect with them through email or on call.

What are the requirements to successfully complete the course?

All participants will be expected to fulfil certain criteria to earn a Certificate.

As the participants progress through the programme, they will earn points for each activity they complete. They must earn a certain minimum number of points at the end of the programme. Also, the final assignment will be graded by INSEAD. In case of 'Tier 2' and 'Tier 3, there will be a Peer Review as well. 


The successful completion of individual activities and a minimum grade on the final assignment will earn the participants a certificate of completion at the end of the programme. INSEAD will award Certificate of Distinction to upto top 10% performers who perform exceptionally well (only in Tier 2 and Tier 3). The parameters for awarding the Certificate of Distinction will be at INSEAD’s discretion. 

All these details will also be shared at the start of the program.

How can I obtain the certificate of completion?

For 'Tier 1' , A basic certificate will be awarded to recognize that you have grasped the concepts. Although on completion of 'Tier 2' and 'Tier 3', you will get the basic Certificate plus a Certificate in Action which recognizes that you have done the Action Learning Project and brought those concepts into action. 


INSEAD will award Certificate of Distinction to up to top 10% performers who perform exceptionally well. The parameters for awarding the Certificate of Distinction will be at INSEAD’s discretion. The link to the digital certificates will be provided to you on successful completion of your respective tiers. These digital certificates can be shared on LinkedIn.

Will the program facilitate any study groups?

We encourage study groups, but we won’t play an active role in forming teams. In case you’re interested feel free to engage with others to form your own groups. However, only individual assignments will be accepted.

How long will we have access to the program?

The course content will be available to you for 6 months from the day the program goes live.

Will I be able to download the course content?

The course content cannot be downloaded. It can be accessed through any browser, Although Google Chrome and Safari are suggested for best compatibility.

Will I get an extension on my course deadlines?

We usually don’t entertain any extension requests because we want the cohort to be in sync with each other for a fruitful peer learning experience. However, in case of extraordinary circumstances, we can evaluate on a case-by-case scenario.

Can we submit assignments in groups?

We do not accept assignments as groups, since it’s an individualised program only individual assignments will be accepted.
