How are the Rajasthan Royals Stars Gearing Up for the 11th Season?
The Royals are back! After two years of hiatus we are back in the biggest cricket league in the world. This year the IPL will be bigger and better than ever. The Rajasthan Royals have already made a strong start to the season by picking one of most well balanced sides on paper. It has a good mix of youth and experience, stability and firepower and most importantly an exceptional support staff which is all one needs to meet the challenges a long season. The scouting team has done a great job in spotting some of the best young talents in the country to put together a team which looks well capable of going all the way. Although the team looks extremely good on paper, from the past experiences we have learnt that reputation and names count for little in this big mean league. Form is what matters the most. So let us take a look at how the Royals are gearing up for their grand return:
Big Ben Back in Business
Ben Stokes is back to doing what he does best. Hitting sixes, taking wickets and catching screamers on the field. Stokesy is one of the marquee players we signed at the auction, and from the reaction on social media, the fans cannot wait to see him on the field. If he can replicate his performances of the 10th IPL then it is safe to say that Rajasthan Royals will do very well. In his First ODI for close to 6 months against the Kiwis, he looked like he was never out of the game. Although he bowled and batted decently in the match he wasn’t able to make an impact that everyone around the world expects him to. However, he more than made up for it with his man of the match performance in the second ODI. With bowling figures of 2-42 and a matured innings of 63 not out, he assured the Royals fans that he is all set to create magic this year too.
Jos Buttler Coming Back to Form at the Right Time
Jos Buttler will be another key component of the current Rajasthan Royal set up. On his day he can easily demolish any bowling attack. He was going through a lean patch in Australia. However, of late he looks to be almost at his best. He has started the ODI series against the black caps in fine fashion. With scores of 36 and 79 he seems to be hitting form at the right time for us. We would be hoping that he continues in the same vein and hits a purple patch once the 11th season of the IPL commences. One of the reasons why he is so important to the team is that he is a highly flexible batsman. He can bat at pretty much any position, hence, using him as a floater is a genuine option.
Will Rahul Tripathi Have the Same Impact?
Rahul Tripathi was one of the finds of the 10th edition of the Indian Premier League. He exhibited maturity and class which is barely expected from a youngster. He was a big reason for the Rising Pune Supergiant reaching the final. Moreover, he also showed that he loves the big stage. It is perhaps for this reason many top teams were vying to get his services. The Royals fans would be hoping that he can replicate his performance in IPL 2017 and give us a good start. If the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy is to be an indication then Tripathi looks to be in good touch. He has been consistent with the bat for the Maharashtra side, playing a crucial role in helping the team reach the final of the competition where they narrowly lost to Karnataka.
The Deadly Trio from Karnataka
Time and again experts have stated the importance of good domestic players for a team to succeed in the IPL. Moreover, good quality domestic bowlers are especially precious because even some of the best overseas bowlers take some time to adapt to the Indian pitches. Hence, high quality Indian bowlers who have performed well in these conditions are major assets for any team. The Rajasthan Royals have done well to pick two of the best young Indian bowlers in the circuit, as well as an experienced and talented all-rounder. The combination of Shreyas Gopal, Krishnappa Gowtham and Stuart Binny wreaked havoc in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy. They picked up as many as 30 wickets between them. It was on the back of these three Royals that Karnataka were able to seal the championship. For Rajasthan Royals this is great news as we not only have three Indian players who have done exceedingly well this season but we also have three Indian players who have the experience of bowling in tandem with each other. This could prove to be of vital importance once the IPL commences.
Will Lomror Roar for the Royals?
Mahipal Lomror attracted the attention of many people with his impressive performance in the Under 19 World Cup in the beginning of the year. However, not many people were sure if he would be able to make the transition to the first class cricket that easily. He seems to have taken to first class cricket like a fish takes to water. He has impressed with both bat and ball. He could prove to be very useful for the Rajasthan Royals as every t20 team always looks for players who can contribute both with the bat and the ball. He has already sealed his place in the Rajasthan set up where he was among the top run scorers for his side with an aggregate of 246 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. An impressive average of almost 50 in the tournament will surely give a lot of hope to the fans. Here’s wishing him all the best for the coming season. Halla Bol!
