04 May 2008 - Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur : Rajasthan Royals’ opening paceman Sohail Tanvir wrecked the Chennai Super Kings to take Rajasthan Royals to the leader position. Sohail finished with figures of 6/14 (which were 5/2 at the end of his third over) to make it the best official bowling figures in any T20 game.

Chennai won the toss and elected to bat on what looked like a good wicket. However, Tanvir struck in his very first over to remove both openers for nought. Chennai never seemed in the hunt as they were reduced to 44/5 by the eight over. Raina and Morkel got into a useful partnership of 44 runs but another collapse triggered through Munaf Patel and Tanvir made it seem like Chennai would be bowled within 100 runs. A couple of fours off Ntini’s bat ensured that Chennai went past a 100 runs.

Rajasthan Royals never seemed in any trouble as they comfortably moved to 78 before they lost Asnodkar in the eleventh over. Graeme Smith anchored the innings with a patient 35 off 44 and hit the winning runs in the fifteenth over. He was put down by Joginder Sharma off Ntini in the third over.

Sohail Tanvir’s fantastic bowling effort got him the man-of-the-match award. This win sees Rajasthan Royals at the top of the league tables after six matches.
