Dhruv Jurel will return to lead the Gorakhpur Lions in the UP T20 League 2024 cricket tournament which will run from August 25 to September 14.

Dhruv Jurel was the captain of the Gorakhpur Lions in the inaugural edition last year as well. The team finished sixth in the standings back then.

In the latest edition, the Gorakhpur Lions will kick-start their campaign against Noida Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on August 26.

The six-team tournament, now in its second season, will feature a total of 34 matches, with each team playing the other five sides twice in the league phase with the top four teams qualifying for the playoffs. All the matches will be played at the same venue in Lucknow.

The UP T20 playoff stage is scheduled to start on September 11 with the final slated on September 14. Apart from Gorakhpur Lions and Super Kings, Kashi Rudras, the defending champions, Meerut Mavericks, Lucknow Falcons and Kanpur Superstars are the other sides that will be part of the UP T20 League 2024.

Dhruv Jurel, who plays for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, was part of the Indian cricket team that toured Zimbabwe for five T20s in July. The wicketkeeper-batter, who made his Test debut earlier this year against England, played his first T20I against Zimbabwe.

Apart from Jurel, Saurabh Kumar, Ankit Rajpoot and Yash Dayal are also part of the Lions side. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rinku Singh, Piyush Chawla and Nitish Rana are the other star attractions who will represent other sides in the UP T20 League 2024.
