As the festive period arrives in India, it brings with it a lot of cricket action. While the Ranji Trophy and India’s trip to Australia dominates the on-field action, it is the off-field action that is keeping all the IPL teams busy as the 2019 IPL season unofficially kicks off on November 15th with the announcement of Player Retention.

All 8 IPL teams will have the decision as to whether to release or retain players in their squad for the upcoming season, as they prepare for the IPL Auction in December and the tournament itself in March 2019.

With the player salary purse rising from INR 80 crores to 82 crores this year, it allows all the teams to make strategic decisions on releases and retention before the Auction.

Current Salary Purse available (in INR) at the 2019 Auction (Before Player Release):

1. Rajasthan Royals: 3.65 Crore
2. Chennai Super Kings: 8.50 Crore
3. Royal Challengers Bangalore: 0.15 Crore
4. Delhi Daredevils: 5.35 Crore
5. Mumbai Indians: 2.55 Crore
6. Kolkata Knight Riders: 2 Crore
7. Kings XI Punjab: 6.80 Crore
8. Sunrisers Hyderabad: 0.90 Crore

The trading window has been active this off-season with moves for stars like Shikhar Dhawan (to Delhi Daredevils) & Quinton De Kock (to Mumbai Indians). The big question now is who will each team release and will any trades take place before the auction?!
