Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Shaun Tait inaugurates 4th Kanni Thahryamal Trophy
School children thrilled on meeting one of the fastest bowlers in the world.
The 4th Kanni Thahryamal Trophy, a state level inter-school T20 cricket tournament was inaugurated by Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Shaun Tait at the Sanskar School ground in Jaipur today.
Tait conducted the toss for the tournament’s first match where hosts Sanskar School took on Maheshwari Public School. The children were encouraged by the presence of Tait, who spoke about his experiences on the field and shared valuable tips with the budding players.
The tournament, organised by the Sanskar School, is played every year in memory of the school’s Founder Director Late Mr. Kanni Thahryamal. Rajasthan Royals have signed up with the organizers for the 2011 edition to develop, nurture and motivate young talent at the grassroots level.
From 9th November to 3rd December 2011, 24 local and 5 outstation schools will participate in the twenty over a side tournament. Starting from the quarterfinals, various Rajasthan Royals players and coaches will watch the tournament and scout for talent. They will also share their expert knowledge with the young players during specially designed coaching sessions.
Rahul Dravid will grace the final presentation ceremony on 3rd December, during which he will interact with the students and share with them the challenges he faced during his school cricketing days.
