It was indeed a night to remember for the Rajasthan Royals on 1st June 2008. Not only did the men in Royal Blue win a thrilling final against the Chennai Super Kings, but also that they walked away with the top honours for the night.
Yusuf Pathan, for his brilliant all-round show (3/22 and 56 of 39) against the Chennai Super Kings, won the man-of-the-match in the finals.
Bowler of the series, Sohail Tanvir, walked away with the Purple Cap for having bagged a phenomenal 22 wickets in the 11 games he played. With an economy rate of 6.46, an average of 12.06 and a wicket off every 11.2 deliveries made Tanvir the most valuable bowler of the tournament.
For a phenomenal show of batting and bowling, Shane Watson with 472 runs (avg. 47.2 and S/R 151.76) and 17 wickets (avg. 22.52 and S/R 19.1) bagged the coveted and well-deserved man-of-the-series award.
Last but not the least, having lead the team to a fantastic victory to emerge as the champions of the inaugural IPL tournament, Shane Warne, skipper and coach of the Rajasthan Royals, lifted the trophy with his men in Royal Blue!
Indeed, a night to remember and cherish for the Rajasthan Royals, and their fans and supporters.
Shreevats Goswami (Royal Challengers Bangalore) and Shaun Marsh (Kings XI Punjab) walked away with the 'Most Promising U-19 Player' and the Orange Cap (for the most number of runs - 616) respectively.
