Rajasthan Royals vs. Mumbai Indians, Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur 29th April 2011
Rajasthan Royals fresh from their convincing victory over the Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK) would be all geared up to take on Mumbai Indians (MI) at home in Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. RR holds a rare distinction of winning almost all their games played at Jaipur and they would want to keep their winning record intact against Mumbai Indians. Moreover, this is also a very important game for RR as winning this game would get RR more close to a semi-final berth.
Suddenly all the cricket experts are acknowledging the fact that RR is a dangerous team and are serious contenders for a semi-final spot. It clearly shows the achievement of this young team led by Shane Warne which was weeks ago dubbed as mere pushovers. RR team looks well balanced in both batting and bowling departments. Johan Botha's presence in the team has lent the solidarity that RR was missing earlier. All RR batsmen Rahul Dravid, Ross Taylor, Ashok Menaria and Shane Watson have made vital contributions at different times in the tournament. Royals would like to take the advantage of this fact, that their top and middle order batsmen have showed a great character in the last match against KTK.
RR's bowlers bowled with a great persistence against the KTK to wrap them up just above 100 runs. They bowled with a plan in mind which was executed well by all the bowlers. Shane Warne would be oozing with confidence after his superlative performance against KTK. Siddharth Trivedi, who is one of the top wicket takers for Royals, was also very impressive in the game. Injured Botha who replaced Shaun Tait also bowled well in the middle stages of the innings. Amit Singh who has stepped up to bowl in the power plays has been a revelation with the ball. Shane Watson has not performed well with the ball in his last few games. But that would not worry Warne too much as Watson is an experienced player and is sure to get his act together with the ball very soon. Mi's main strength have been their batting line up. MI's batting line up consists of the hard hitting Kieron Pollard, Andrew Symonds, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and the inform Ambati Rayadu. The RR bowlers will have to pull up their socks to bowl against such a strong line up.
Player to watch out for: Johan Botha who has had a brilliant IPL with bat would love to rip apart the MI bowling attack.
