Rahul Dravid is likely to announce his retirement on Friday. Dravid, 39, has called a press conference in Bangalore that will also be attended by N Srinivasan, the BCCI president, and is set to make the announcement .

Dravid is set to be the first of India's senior-most cricketers - including Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman - to quit the game after a season of speculation surrounding their future. His decision follows a poor tour of Australia but he enjoyed a prolific run through 2011, on tours of the Caribbean and England.

His decision will bring to an end a career that started in England in 1996, when Dravid made 95 in the second Test at Lord's. Since then, he has been a pillar of the Indian Test side, playing 93 consecutive Tests from debut. He will finish with 13,288 Test runs - behind only Tendulkar - in 164 matches, with 36 hundreds at an average of 52.31.

Dravid also captained 25 Tests, of which India won eight and lost six. Under his leadership India won Test series in Pakistan in 2003-04, in West Indies in 2006 and in England in 2007.

Good news as well as bad news. He will give way for an youngster but there is no player who is half of him.

please be there till pointing retires, i will burn myself i loved ur batting style and ur personality, please dont leave test please,. many will be dissappointed please don leave tests, play for a yer or so, dont let pointing be second please

its really a bad news for all cricket fans and this is the day that all the fans remember his name at least once.....and should give some respect to him ...we can only pray to god that his conference is not for this ....![]()
